Step back in time when you tour the Wai’oli Mission House and Church. This 17-acre site was home to early Christian missionaries Abner and Lucy Wilcox and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As you wander around, you’ll see how they lived and even touch their hand-crafted koa furniture. It’s also worth synchronizing your watch with the wall clock, which was installed in 1866 and still keeps perfect time.

The church’s members respect the Hawaiian culture and integrate it into their services. They’re a friendly and welcoming bunch who invite you to come as you are. They use some Hawaiian terms in their sermons and the choir sings in both English and Hawaiian. The church also has a community center that’s used for everything from potlucks to 12 step groups and hosts musical performances by nationally recognized artists. You can also rent out the facilities for your own special event.
